"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away". A wonderful quote, very applicable after spending yesterday walking along the South coast from Eastbourne to Seaford, over Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. Despite the February cold and howling wind it was a beautiful sunny day. Perfect for catching some rays, opening up my lungs to fresh air, and feeling oh so happy to be alive and able to experience the stunning coastline. Even my picnic eaten on the pebble beach at Birling Gap was amazing. Not just because of the delicious fresh fruit, bread and cheese, and flask of coffee, but because the views were stunning and the sunshine warm(ish). Such a lovely experience after all the grey drizzly days in January when I frequently had no inclination to set foot outside my front door. I feel it is so important to our happiness and joy for life to seek out those moments that take our breath away. Sometimes they come along unexpectedly, often we need to go and find them ourselves. I knew yesterday (after checking the weather forecast) that it would be a perfect day for an invigorating coast walk, so grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Literally took my breath away.
